Buddy Miles Dies. Born September 5, 1947.

It's a great shame to hear that drummer Buddy Miles passed away on Tuesday. He played with Jimi Hendrix, Santana and David Bowie during his career.

You will have heard his drums on the legendary Hendrix album 'Electric Ladyland'.

Miles' career included playing drums with Stevie Wonder, Muddy Waters, Barry White, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Carlos Santana, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix.

He was an excellent musician and his contributions shaped the iconic music of the last 3 decades. His music will live on through the numerous albums he played on.

It's that (EuroVision) Time Of Year Again!

With Eurovision fast approaching what's you're prediction for the UK's offering? Will it be 'nul points' again...?

I must say that I normally completely ignore the Eurovision Song Contest, personally I can't see any value - I know it's meant to be fun, but I usually want England to win. This hasn't happened in quite a while as the acts and songs chosen are terrible!

Anyway, we'll have to wait and see... will you be watching Eurovision this year?

Hope for Young (at heart) Musicians

If you're 35 and over and want to join a band, but feel you need to master your instrument first then you're in luck!

Andertons sponsors a music workshop called Weekend Warriors. The workshop is described as "Weekend Warriors is for middle-aged musicians (35's and over) who used to play in bands but gave up, or who wanted to play but never dared. We will place you into groups based on your musical preferences, and take you through a number of rehearsal sessions at Silent Hill Studios before getting you up on stage to perform live in a rock concert. We organise everything for you, all you need to do is turn up!"

It's really easy to join and you get to play in a gig at the end of the course!

Weekend Warriors is also covered on the MIA (Music Industries Association) Website

Fender Rock 'n' Roll Theme Park

I've put this in the News section of Andertons.co.uk, but the news that Fender are joining the Decades Music Theme Park Project for me is pretty cool. I googled the Decades Music Theme Park Website, which has a lot of info. You can view the PDF info and concept pics here (PDF file)

If you think that the Theme Park is a good idea and should go ahead, please show you support by joining the theme park mailing list

New Fender American Standard Stratocaster

One of the big product ranges this year from Fender is the American Standard Series. They are updated from the original standard series. There are a lot of raving reviews from various music websites, like Harmony Central and Music Radar, so I don't need to add to the pile of 5 star reviews!

The Stratocaster from the American Standard Series has the classic looks of this model, as used by Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. It's available in a range of colours.

You also get a nice Hard Case included in the price.

First Post of the New Andertons Music Blog!

Hi - this is the first post! I'm excited to announce that we have a new blog (just in case you haven't realised already!)

Let me introduce myself... my name is Steve and I am the Web Content Manager for Andertons. I keep track of all the latest goings on and new products, so if I know about it then it will probably end up on here.

If you haven't heard of Andertons Music, we're based in Guildford, Surrey (UK) and provide musical instruments and equipment, including guitars, drums, keyboards/pianos and pro audio/computer music. The Andertons website is www.andertons.co.uk. The shop has 2 floors - the ground floor has guitars, drums and pianos while the basement has a pro audio setup for product demos. There's also soundproof demo rooms, you can test out an amp and guitar without the rest of the shop hearing!

There's loads of new stuff on it's way - new fender guitars, special limited edition drums, really cool guitar pedals and high quality audio production equipment from various companies including Alesis, Roland and Waldorf.
